Mesopotamia run many projects to support people living in poverty, which sadly often goes hand in hand with poor mental health, homelessness or domestic violence. Each week they provide food for over 300 people through a foodbank.

They realised very soon after opening the foodbank that people were struggling to buy household cleaning products, sanitary products and personal hygiene items because their cost made them out of reach. One of the women they discovered had been using food bags wrapped in toilet tissue as a sanitary towel. The toilet roll was taken from a public toilet in a local supermarket. Since then, they have responded to the needs of thousands of people by providing food, clothing, other items, and access to medical care to those that need it most.
“We provide financial, emotional and psychological support for refugees, ex-servicemen, the young, the elderly, the hungry and the homeless.”
Recently they have started to add a small bag of hygiene and household supplies with the food parcels which people are genuinely thrilled to receive. Rachel, Mesopotamia’s Founder and Director stated, “To be able to be clean gives a person a value and helps them feel a part of society and their community”.
